School to school - mindspace for educators

Shared Mindspace is a way of opening new horizons, it lets you go global in body and soul and it gives you a tremendous choice of Who with, When, Where, How and for How long. The best way in our experience is to tackle this experience together with your teacher, your class, your school. It lets so many others participate in your adventure who will eventually give back to you or who will pass the spark on to others, it’s the best way to make a lasting impact inwards and outwards.

Schools at Shared Mindspace are a key factor to make the most out of an exchange.
And they can take a lot out of it for themselves too: the program offers schools and teachers a great number of opportunities to add value to daily school life and to their pupils’ curriculum. Yet, they need to make no bureaucratic commitments, neither financial nor organisational obligations are involved. Schools can decide freely in every individual case if and to which extent they want to co-operate.

All we ask a new partner school for is an open minded approach, an open ear for students’ wishes and readiness to communicate with other schools. Ideally there should be a team of teachers named for this purpose, not only teachers for English and other languages but also colleagues teaching subjects like geography, history and literature.

Shared Mindspace exchange students should both be prepared and welcomed as ambassadors of their own schools, their home town, their language and culture, their nation. They are then ready to talk confidently about all they stand for and give presentations, not limited to their new class, perhaps not even limited to their host school. It is their training ground for life and teaches them to speak in public, to stand up for what they believe in and to carry back new insights and convey fresh ideas. What’s more, they are encouraged to encourage others to have a go themselves for a wider and more colourful dialogue on all topics.

Any school interested to participate is very welcome and cordially invited to contribute to the databank of exchange knowledge. This Wiki accumulates information for schools and for interested families and is designed to provide the knowledge required to decide on the feasibility of a planned exchange.
Parents, students and schools will find an ever growing pool of information on issues such as visa regulations for a specific country, a specific school’s readiness to accept one pupil in exchange for another, the curriculum for any particular grade, a school’s expectations and offers to an exchange student, specific focus programs a school may have, link collections to find out more about the country, the region, the climate and much more.
